Friday (3 days ago) I ate at my 299th Pizza Restaurant. It was a very average Pizza and somewhat of a dissapoinment. I've kept a list of Every place I've ever eaten at since I was a Kid... I'm up to 1,081 Restaurants. But anyway 299 of them were Pizza Places... from 13 States and Washington DC.

Here's my Top 30:

Now I'm not going to dispute your list, its most impressive, but some of my favorite places are not on that list.



1) Modern Pizza - New Haven, CT

2) Prior to new ownership - Mark Twain's Pizza, Metairie, LA, now its pretty bad.

3) Grimaldi's Pizza - Brooklyn

4) Casa Mia - Plainville, CT

5) John's Pizzaria - Manhattan

6) Tortora's Pizza- Huntsville, AL- moving up with a bullet

7) Willington Pizza, Willington, CT

Pizzaria Reggina, Boston

9) New York Pizza, New Orleans

10) Brooklyn Pizza, Metairie, LA - moving up with a bullet

11) Olee's Pizza, Farmington, CT

12) Zuppardi's, West Haven, CT


I was going to do 13, but thought that would be unlucky.

I've eaten pizza in the following cities:

Columbus & Cincinnati, OH

Pittsburgh

Philadelphia

Washington DC

Arlington, VA - had a nice place in Ballston area, but don't have the name

Louisville, KY

Atlanta - remember Uncle Vito's, decent/good

Chicago - Geno's

Denver - Beau Joe's was pretty good the first time, but less good the 2nd.

Seattle-

Phoenix

Cape Cod, MA

Vermont - about 20 miles from Canada

Manchester, NH

Ithaca, NY

Nashville - pretty good Mellow Mushroom, and another place in Franklin area.

Mandeville, LA - pretty good place

Ft Lauderdale

Tampa

Houston- had a great place in the 80's, Panjo's pizza

Dallas

St Louis - worst pizza ever, Imo's.

Also in

Italy - Rome, Florence, Venice, Perugia - Capitano's in Ostia (outside of Rome)

Netherlands - Amsterdam, near Heineken Brewery, very good and cheap
Utrecht (the Grotto on the canals), and Gorinchem

Odense, Denmark - worst in Europe

Frankfurt, Germany - pretty good

Paris - once near the Eiffel Tower, and then by the Bastille - both great.

St Etienne, France - near the train station, very good.

Brussels and Brugge, Belgium - in Brussels, near St. Katherine's Square.

and I'm sure this place is long closed...

Napoli, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Well, almost another 2 years later , I have returned... seems like I'm drawn here on a 2 year cycle...

As of February 25th 2011 the Total Restaurant Count is up to 1,207 ... And the Total Pizza Restuarant Count is at 321 ...

A few more tasty pizza's to add to the list:

* Panda-moni-yum (Lake City FL) Surprizingly good since I had low expectations seeing that it is a Chuckie-Cheese -like place with Arcade , kids games and Birthday Partys.

* LaFamiglia Pizzeria (Ocala FL)

* Wiseguys Pizzeria (Ocala FL)

After 321 Pizza Places and Several years of Pizza Eating in 13 states + D.C. ... my favorite still remains "SAL'S Italian Restaurant" in Beverly Hills FL

and... Looks Like Dino wins the prize for "World Pizza Taster"

Although I've Driven through Connecticut A few times and Spent the night in Groton and Bridgeport , Somehow never got to sample any Connecticut Pizza ... and The only other country I've been in Besides the USA is Canada and I've not sampled any Canadian pizza either.

If I ever make my way up north again I will make it a goal to sample Pizza in Connecticut.
