Oh how a thing, in this case pizza, can bring back such a flood of wonderful memories. My friend Albert recently reminded me of visiting the 1965 worlds fair.

I was 13 years old and my father packed the family up in his 36 foot Owns cabin cruiser and we cruised the entire length of Long Island Sound From Fisher's Island Sound to Riverhead on to Flushings Bay to spend two weeks at the Worlds Fair.

Albert is internationally renowned as a Pizza aficionado par excel lance and I had the great pleasure of sitting in Pepe's Apizza on the Mohegan Indian Reservation in Uncasville Connecticut with him, Charley and Kama.

As we scarfed an excellent white clam pie Albert told me about a slide show he discovered of a pizza master who had a pizza pavilion at the Worlds Fair. I immediately said oh yeah I remember that place.

My brother Rob and My cousin Gary would have just about all our lunches at Mastro's Pizza Pavilion. And the pie was out of sight delicious. We would buy it by the slice; just like you would in Rome.

The crust was simply out of this world, light and semi-thick, doughy but crisp. The mozzarella cheese was melted to perfection and stringy and there was plenty of rich and sweet tomato sauce.

If you wanted to splurge you could order it with the best Italian sweet sausage. It was reminiscent of the Famous Ray's Pizza at Sixth Avenue and 12th street, I mean this pie was just as fine as all the young teenage beauties were constantly trying to meet.

We would spend all day wandering around all the tremendous exhibits and pavilions but we would always make our way back to Mastro's pizza to get a slice and a sprite. Those were wonderful days.

I was young, the world was a different place back then and I saw things that I had never seen before.

I remember those days at the New York Worlds Fair and that most delicious pizza. Check out
