Can i use a little baking powder?
The next time i make a pizza i am going to brush the edge with a beated egg for browning.

Hi Paul.
Thanks for your email...
If the crust seemed without taste, I am not sure why.
When there is no taste, I always question the ingredients you used.
However pizza dough is only:
flour
salt
yeast and
water
That's it....
I use olive oil, sometimes, but it is not nessesary.
I will assume you followed the recipe as written.
Eaxctly.
One way to increase taste is to make the dough the day before and allow it to proof in the fridge overnight.
If you used olive oil, that should give you a mild taste and make the dough a bit softer.
You did use olive oil right?
Now you don't have to use olive oil at all.
Here is an alternative recipe:
4 cups of caputo or king arthur flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of yeast
1 1/2 cups of water.
mix, knead and let rest for 45 minutes or so. Drizzle with olive oil so it won't dry out.
Put in the fridge overnight.
Of course you can brush the outside of the dough with an egg wash if you wish
But no, NEVER use baking powder in my dough recipe.
Use someone else's pizza dough recipe, if you want to use baking powder.
Please try the new recipe and let me know how you make out.
